it's been a crazy couple of weeks.
first- the boy's birthday party.
Keaton was very helpful in setting up:
most of his favorite people were in attendance. including a whole backyard full of his baby friends. the weather was gorgeous. and everyone had a blast.
Keaton tried a cupcake:
he was pretty tentative about it at the party... but later he realized how magically delicious cupcakes truly are:
he got some fantastic books as gifts. and also this awesome awesome chair from Grandpa Gary:
Grandma Kate is working on a couple giant pillows for him- which he is going to LOVE. as evidenced by his recently renewed love affair with his Jamaica pillow:
the boy is obsessed.
and the pillows Grandma is making will coordinate w the Jamaica pillow, which makes me and my OCD happy.
so, all was fabulous for a while there...
then came the nightmare weekend.
starting with Buster getting the stomach flu.
and puking up everything that touched his lips and then some.
for about 14 hours.
I almost took him to Urgent Care like 9 times, but the nurse on the phone kept saying that a dehydrated baby is not a playful baby... And between retching his guts out - he was cruising around the family room, reading all his books, opening the hall closet, emptying it of it's contents, doing puzzles and driving his new trucks around... so we just watched him closely and rode it out.
and enjoyed the snuggles. Keaton is a pretty snuggly/affectionate guy to begin with, but add in the sickies and he is king cuddler. He actually cozied up with me and watched a whole movie. this is the boy who won't make it through all of Elmo's world. Which I think is like 15 min.
the next day he was starting to feel better.
But then it hit Ben and I. Ben got taken down pretty hard. And my stomach just kept threatening to revolt. It was heinous. Both parents should not be sick at the same time. Especially as babe is recovering. gross.
it's more than a week later, and Keaton's still not really back to solids. I'm just trying to take it easy and follow his lead on food. (he's puked another 3 times since the major sick day, so we're not going to push it)
so that was a rough weekend... but things are on an upswing again...
Keaton had such a fabulous hair day the other day, that I had to get him outside and get pictures of it before he took a nap on it and crazied it up:
(I have a feeling that at some point- after his first haircut, we will look back and think his hair was out of control, but for now I am loving it.)
yesterday Ben had some serious studying to do, so Keaton and I went (basically) next door to the Fairgrounds for the Horse Expo. Buster is a HUGE animal fan (works well as we also live next door to the zoo) and I thought he might enjoy seeing the horses. Enjoy is a giant understatement. Those who know him have probably heard his "I see an animal!" squeal...now imagine it like times ten, echoing through a horse barn. He was out of his mind gleeful. He wanted to touch like every horse. And probably did touch about half of them. silly boy.
I'm pretty sure if he could say more than "mama" "dada" "this" and "that" and "uh-oh"- he would have been begging for a horse of his own all the rest of the day.
we've also been playing outside a LOT. Keaton signs a ton, and even invented his own sign for "outside" and it's probably his most used sign. God help you if you say the word and he hears you and you don't immediately follow it up with a trip out to his playset or swing.
and- in continuing the upswing... I have big news tomorrow. WOOOOO!
so come back. check it out. be excited w me.
(or at least get excited for yourself- we're talking give away here people. and considering all of like 7 people read this blog these days, your odds are pretty good! HAHA!)

This photos are cute. And by cute I mean life threateningly adorable.
Sorry I missed saying bye to you guys at the thing the other night! Tell your husband I love him.

Yeah the thing about Keaton being sick and still running around like a crazy toddler is how Atti is! Whenever he has been sick he's usually sick in between running around the house, making the doctors think I am overreacting to him being sick! Crazy boys. LOVE that new chair. Happy Birthday Keaton!
